The Baron in the Trees by Italo Calvino. Amazing. Might even be a favorite. We will see.
Does anyone recommend any of his other books?
❝ Whatever happened, his only worry was those empty days in prison without being able to read, with that novel left unfinished. ❞

Okay if you're going for fucked up, I'd say Sharp Objects. Gone Girl might be slightly more engaging (? I'm torn for which one I liked better. Might be a tie.) but Sharp Objects has more dark, twisty-ness. Definite, DEFINITE self-harm trigger warning though. And some sexual stuff too, if any of that would upset you. But seriously, it's a quality, gritty, messy book. Love it.
Oooh okay. I want to give another of her books a chance, but I have been debating which of those two to read. I think maybe i’ll read Sharp Objects(though I am not feeling so sure about the self-harm bit), and if I like that one, i’ll give Gone Girl a chance too.
When you say sexual stuff…do you mean rape? If it is just sex, then that’s all right with me.
